The peace symbol is probably one of the most popular symbols in modern culture, so it’s good to know that you can use it in your Facebook chat and status messages. You can even put a Facebook peace symbol in your name if you want to.

Peace symbol Facebook

The peace symbol became popular back in the 1960s when a lot of people were protesting the atomic bomb and war in general. This symbol became popular with the hippies and remains popular to this day with people who strive for a peaceful world free of war.

You can add a peace symbol to your Facebook name to show that you are against war and even change your name to something related to something you are protesting if you want to. Of course, besides symbolizing peace, it also looks cool in your Facebook name.

Although the peace symbol is certainly the most popular way to indicate your desire for peace, there is another Facebook symbol that may be used as well. The yin yang symbol stands for calm and tranquility and is a good way to represent peace in the world.

Facebook Peace Symbol

☮
Peace symbol for Facebook
The Facebook peace symbol is simple to use in your Facebook status updates, chat messages and name. Since it is a character that is recognized by Windows rather than a picture, all you have to do is copy and paste it from above into your Facebook messages.

☯
Yin & Yang Symbol
The yin and yang symbol originated in ancient China. Since it is a symbol of calm and tranquility, it is pretty much interchangeable with the Facebook peace symbol. If you are into Chinese things, you may prefer this symbol.

Use these two symbols on Facebook to show that you’re doing your part to try and make the world a better place for everyone. If you know another way to symbolize peace on Facebook, leave a note for us in the comments.

How would you like a cool butterfly symbol to put in your Facebook status updates or chat messages? This website offers many different Facebook symbols that you can use when you chat but this is one of the coolest of all of them.

Butterfly symbol Facebook

Although most of the special characters you’ll find on this site are single characters that you can add to your messages, this one is different. The butterfly symbol is actually made by combining three different symbols to form a picture of a butterfly. You can simply copy and paste the combination of symbols below to put the butterfly into your Facebook updates. How cool is that?

Facebook Butterfly symbol

There are plenty of opportunities to use number symbols in Facebook chat. One of the most common is probably the exchange of phone numbers. You might know people in real life that you talk to on Facebook but have never actually needed to call on the phone.

Numbers in circles in Facebook

If you need to give your phone number to one of your Facebook chat friends, you can use plain old boring numbers to do it if you want to. Or you can spice it up a bit and use these circled number Facebook symbols.

These symbols are really easy to use because they are actually standard Windows characters. That means you don’t have to download or install anything to get them to work on your computer. All you have to do is copy them from this post and paste them into your Facebook chat window. It might be a good idea to save your phone number in a file once you get it set up so you can pull it up next time and copy and paste the whole thing at once.

Of course, you should always be careful about who you give your phone number to. Remember that there are some strange folks on Facebook!

Facebook currency symbols can really be useful if you buy a lot of things online, especially if they are shipping from overseas. If you know how to indicate the various forms of currency in your Facebook chat window, you can tell all your friends what you’ve ordered and how much it cost.

Money Facebook symbols

If you want to use these currency symbols in your Facebook status updates or chat window, all you have to do is copy and paste the symbol from this page into Facebook. Most of these are standard symbols that appear on the keyboard in the various countries they are used in, but if you’re dealing with more than one currency you’ll need to know how to display them using your normal keyboard.

Facebook Symbols for Money

¢
Facebook Cents Symbol

Since most prices are over a dollar, you may not have even noticed that the cents symbol is not on the standard US keyboard. This symbol can be used if you are talking about the price of something that is less than a buck.

£
Facebook Pound Symbol

If you’re buying products from Great Britain, you’ll be paying in pounds. Great Britain is the only major European country that doesn’t use the Euro.

€
Facebook Euro Symbol

Speaking of Euros, you will use them if you buy something anywhere else in Europe. If you are buying a fashionable dress from Paris, you’re going to need to use the Euro symbol to brag about your purchase to your friends on Facebook chat.

¥
Facebook Yen Symbol

The yen symbol is the symbol for Japanese currency. Perhaps you are planning a trip to Japan and need to figure out how much things cost so you know how many dollars you’ll need to exchange for yen.

¤
Facebook Currency Symbol

You probably don’t know this symbol. That’s all right; not many people do. You can use it if you can’t get the proper currency symbol for the type of money you are talking about. You can also use it as a decorative symbol.

There are more currency symbols in other parts of the world, but the symbols above cover the most commonly used currencies. If you know some of the other Facebook currency symbols, please leave a comment!

For some people, horoscopes are nothing more than a bit of fun, something to read and laugh about. Others take the astrological star signs much more seriously and believe they can be used to get an idea of what might be coming their way in the future.

Horoscopes and Astrology symbols for Facebook

Astrology has been a way of fortune telling for ages. However, it is unclear whether there is any value in the speculation provided by fortune tellers to those who seek them for guidance. For the most part, the majority of the population seems to agree that fortune tellers are mostly frauds.

Horoscopes rely on star symbols to provide an understanding of someone’s personality based on the positioning of the stars when they were born. They use this information combined with the current position of the stars to come up with a general bit of information for people born in each month, advising them that they will be lucky in love or unlucky in business, for example.

Whether you believe that horoscopes are an accurate way to predict the future or not, you can use the astrological star symbols in your Facebook status, name and chat messages to show people what your sign is.

These Facebook symbols can be used anywhere that you can type text. Just copy the symbol you need from the list of horoscope symbols below and paste it into your status message or chat window.

There are many uses for the letter X in the English language. It comes in handy for so much more than just xylophones and exits. You can use an X to mark a location on a map or write out multiplication problems. When you go to the polls to vote, you will place an X on your ballot for the candidate you want to vote for. That is, unless your polling location has switched to voting machines.

X vote or multiplication symbol for Facebook

When you’re posting updates to your Facebook status or chat, you might want to make your updates stand out a bit more by adding Facebook symbols to your messages. There are four different symbols you can use in place of the letter X when posting to your Facebook account.

Voting or Multiplication Facebook Symbols

✕
X Symbol for Multiplication

The Facebook symbol for multiplication looks almost just like a capital letter X. This symbol comes in handy when you are talking about your homework assignments or getting help on a difficult problem.

✖
Heavy X Symbol for Multiplication

If you like this one better, you can use it for your homework sessions in Facebook chat. It’s just a bolder version of the Facebook multiplication symbol.

✗
X Symbol for Voting

Of course X’s come in handy when chatting about politics. Whether you want to show support for your party or your favorite candidate, you can accompany your Facebook chat message with the X symbol for voting.

✘
Heavy X Symbol for Voting

This symbol is just like the other Facebook X symbol for voting and elections, but it is bolder. You can use this one anywhere you would use the other voting symbol. It’s up to you which one you prefer.
Facebook symbols give you another way to express your opinions besides using words alone. If you know of any other X symbols that we have missed, please tell us about them in the comments.

E-mail is one of the ways that the Internet is helping people connect. Now that people can send off a quick e-mail, there is little need for the so-called ‘snail mail’ that used to be the standard way for people who lived far apart to keep up with one another.

Facebook envelope symbol

In addition to using e-mail for business, which allows instant communication in matters requiring a timely answer, e-mail is very popular among home Internet users as well. In fact, e-mail is making such an impact on the mail industry that the US Postal Service has actually started losing money.
Now there is something on the Internet that is even better than e-mail as a way to send messages your friends.

If you’ve ever wanted to point to something on your Facebook wall, now you can do it. All you have to do is insert one of these Facebook pointing hand symbols into your status message. They can be used to point something out or just to draw more attention to your post.

The Facebook pointing symbols come in both black and white and there are four different directions to choose from. No matter what you want to point to, there is a Facebook symbol you can use to point at least in the general direction.

pointing finger facebook symbol

There are many things you could point to with these symbols. Perhaps someone said something funny further down on your wall and you want to point it out to your mutual friends. Here are the Facebook symbols you can use to point to things.

Pointing Symbols for Facebook

☚
Black hand pointing left
You can use the left-pointing hand at the end of your status update to point back at what you said, or at the beginning to point to something on the left sidebar.

☛
Black hand pointing right
The right-pointing hand is good to use when you are talking about something on the right sidebar, like when you are complaining about Facebook’s ads.

☜
White hand pointing left
The white hand that points to the left can be used the same ways as the black one. You decide which one you’d rather use.

☞
White hand pointing right
Another idea for the left-pointing and right-pointing hands is to place a right-pointing hand at the beginning of your Facebook status update and a left-pointing hand at the end. That way, both hands point back toward your update.

☝
White hand pointing up
What’s up? You can answer that by using this symbol. Or you can tell someone to shut up in Facebook chat if you feel like being rude.

☟
White hand pointing down
The down-pointing hand can be used when you are talking about something at the bottom of the page. You might need this if you are trying to explain to someone how to use the bookmarks in Facebook.

You can copy and paste all of these pointing Facebook symbols from this post right into your Facebook updates and chat messages. Please leave a message in the comments if you know of any other pointing symbols that can be used on Facebook.

If you are listening to music while you’re on Facebook, you can use these music note symbols in your status updates when you post the name of the song or artist you’re listening to. You can also use music note symbols in Facebook chat or anywhere that you can type text.

Alt codes don’t work for all of the music notes shown below, but you can use any of them by copying and pasting the symbol from this article into your status update or chat box. As you can see, there are several musical notes and symbols that you can use.

Music Symbols for Facebook

♩
Quarter Note Symbol

This is the symbol for a quarter note, and it is probably the most frequently used note symbol on Facebook. You can also use it on Twitter or anywhere else you can paste text.

♪
Eighth Note Symbol

The eighth note looks like a quarter note with a flag on top. This is a great symbol to use if you like a fancier look.

♫
Eighth Notes Symbol

Two eighth notes that occur next to each other in music are illustrated by two notes joined with a bar on top.

♬
Sixteenth Notes Symbol

When you have two sixteenth notes together, the symbol has an extra bar.

♭
Flat Symbol

The flat symbol tells a musician to play the note a half-step lower, but for your Facebook updates you can use it to tell people you have a ‘flat’ tire.

♮
Natural Symbol

You could use the natural symbol anywhere you would use the word ‘natural.’ In music, it means to play the natural version of the note rather than playing it flat or sharp.

♯
Sharp Symbol

Now you can tell your chat buddies to be ‘sharp.’ This symbol tells the musician to play the note a half-step higher.

Now you know how to display all of the most common musical symbols in your Facebook status message or chat. If you know of any others, tell us about them in the comments.
