Do you know that you can use symbol characters in your Facebook updates and chat messages? There are quite a few shape symbols you can use that you will find listed below.

If you love geometry and math, you should be able to find a use for these characters. If not, you can use shapes to draw pictures or draw attention to your updates. Or maybe send someone a little love with a heart shape.

Here are some shape symbols you can use to add a little something extra to your status updates.

Facebook Shapes

▲
Triangle Pointing Up

You can use the triangle to point up at something on the top of the screen or just to draw attention to your status message. Use it anywhere you would use an up arrow.

▼
Triangle Pointing Down

This triangle points downward and can be used anywhere you would use a down arrow. Perhaps you are trying to get people to look for a previous status message further down the page so you don’t have to repeat yourself.

█
Tall Rectangle

These tall rectangles are great for drawing pictures. If you are talented, you can use them to make a design in your status message. It might take some practice to get good at it.

░
Dotted Rectangle

You can also use the dotted rectangle to draw pictures on Facebook, or maybe to show people you’re a little bit dotty.

▄
Horizontal Rectangle

The horizontal rectangle is actually a half-filled vertical rectangle. Only the bottom half has been filled in.

｡
Tiny Circle

This tiny circle could come in handy for a lot of things. You could use them as bubbles, balls or anything else that is round.

♡
Heart

The most common use of the heart is love, of course. You can use this to tell someone how much you care.

If you know of any other shape symbols, please leave a comment and tell us about them!

Since so many people use Facebook to keep in touch with that special someone, it’s no surprise that there are a lot of Facebook heart symbols available that you can paste into your status message. Whether you are sending a message to your special someone or announcing to the world how much you love them in your status update, adding hearts to your message is a nice romantic touch.

Heart Symbols for Facebook

♡
Facebook Plain Heart Symbol

You can copy and paste this plain heart, also known as an empty heart, you’re your status. This is one of the most basic hearts and you are sure to find many uses for it.

♥
Black Facebook Heart Symbol

On Facebook, the black heart symbol is very versatile. It can be used to express love and romance, just like the plain heart above. It can also indicate an evil or greedy person’s heart. Of course, if you enjoy playing cards, you can use the black heart symbol to show that you have hearts in your hand.

ஐ
Facebook Mirror Heart Symbol

If you want something a little fancier, try using this mirror heart symbol. It is two hearts in one. The bottom heart portrays what the reflection would look like if the top heart was sitting on water. You can use it in a romantic way or to express sadness. In that case, you can imagine that the heart is resting in a pool of tears.

ღ
Facebook Alternative Heart Symbol

This is a special heart that you can use to offer romantic sentiments for Valentine’s Day on your Facebook status. Just paste it into your status update along with a thought about the person you are thinking of.
You’ll find that there are many more hearts available but these are among the most commonly used. If you know of any other Facebook heart symbols, leave us a comment to tell us about it!
